News 12 has learned Ascension Health is one big step closer to closing the sale of St. Joseph Hospital to a for-profit company.
A spokeswoman says Ascension Health, which owns St. Joseph, notified a for-profit company Tuesday that they'll start negotiations.
Elaine Comeau said Ascension had 3 offers from companies, and chose one.
We should know who the company is the first part of May.
Comeau says Ascension hopes to complete the sale this summer.
