You can start putting those tomatoes back on your sandwiches without worrying too much. The U.S. government has declared it's okay to eat them again. They're lifting the salmonella warning, saying although the outbreak isn't over -- there are signs it's slowing.
However, they say the people most at
risk of salmonella should avoid hot peppers, jalapenos and seranos.
The government still doesn't know just what caused the
salmonella outbreak, and Thursday's move doesn't mean tomatoes are
cleared.
