South Carolina moves towards 12-year school bus replacement cycle
Wednesday, South Carolina's Senate Education Committee approved a bill to require the state to replace its school buses every 12 years.
The Education Department says it needs to buy up to 400 new buses each year at about $60,000 each to support a 12-year replacement cycle.
The state has purchased only 300 school buses since 2002.
