Car hits train in downtown Augusta

Reynolds and Broad Street were blocked off Friday morning after a car struck a slow moving Norfolk Southern freight train.

It happened shortly after 2 o'clock Friday morning where 6th Street and Reynolds intersect.

Police say a gray Monte Carlo was headed westbound when it hit a Norfolk Southern train.

Deputies arrested a Fort Gordon soldier for driving under the influence of alcohol.

He says he never saw the train coming.

Another person was in the car, but deputies let him leave.
