Aiken County Council's Public Safety Committee started a plan Tuesday evening to hire and retain quality EMS workers.

Aiken County is short 14 EMS workers.

Many have left to take jobs with smaller counties that pay more.

Last night, the EMS committee discussed pay raises and changing the schedules for EMS workers.

Aiken County's administrator calls last night's meeting a success.

The committee plans to get more information and meet again in a few weeks.
