Sam Lilly sentenced

December 15, 2009: There has been an update since this story first aired on News 12 and was posted on wrdw.com. In March of 2009 Sam Lilly had his criminal charges expunged. Expungement is a legal process of having an arrest or conviction or plea agreement erased from a person’s criminal record. Because of that, Lilly no longer has a criminal record in this matter.

March 8, 2006

Former Josey High School boy's basketball coach Sam Lilly was sentenced today after pleading to an accusation of the charges brought before him, which basically amounts to an acknowledgment of the charges.

He was charged with three offenses: sexual assault, which is a felony, and two counts of simple battery.

The victims are three girls from Josey, and two prior victims were witnesses in the case.

Lilly was sentenced to five years probation and 300 hours of community service, and he must make a $10,000 contribution to Child Enrichment.

He will be placed on a sex offender registry.
