One man is injured after a frightening accident in Orangeburg County, but it could have been much worse.

It happened in Springfield, about an hour east of Augusta.

A water tower being dismantled fell when the boom on a crane broke.

The 150-foot tall tower smashed a mobile home and a pickup truck. The crane operator suffered minor injuries.

The tank, with its distinctive green frog logo, is nearly 80 years old.

A second operator prevented more injuries and damage by swinging his crane so that the falling tower shifted to miss the town hall.
