A soldier remembered

Soldiers at Fort Gordon remembered a fellow soldier and friend today.

There was a memorial this morning for Sergeant Marques Allen of the 345th Military Intelligence Battalion.

He was killed in a motorcycle wreck last week on River Watch Parkway.

Those who knew and served with him say there aren't enough words to describe the type of human being the young soldier was.

“There’s just not enough words to describe the type of soldier, friend, what type of NCO he was,” says SFC Micheal Trembley.

Sgt. Allen, a native of Louisiana, was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He was 22 years old.

Deputies say Allen was thrown off his bike after hitting a guardrail, and that speed is often a factor in wrecks along River Watch Parkway.
