Kurama has been a popular spot in the Washington Square shopping center for years.
It was open last night, but now there's some heavy damage.
During News 12 Midday, firefighters were still on the scene at Kurama on Washington Road.
They were putting out some final smoke.
The fire broke out around 8 this morning.
Firefighters say they put out the worst of it by 9, but they say the building is completely gutted.
They estimate $100,000 worth of damage inside.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
They thought the fire started in the roof but ruled that out and are now looking at inside causes.
The good news is the businesses surrounding Kurama say they have no major damage.
But they certainly smell inside.
News 12 will update you on the investigation into the cause and will update you on News 12 First at Five and on News 12 at 6 o’clock.
