BREAKING NEWS: Body found in trash--UPDATED

Richmond County investigators are on the scene of a dead body found behind a business at 516 Broad Street.

Autopsy results have just been released. According to the crime lab, cause of death is massive trauma to the chest, and no bullets were involved in this death.

Investigators are analyzing the evidence, but here's what they know so far.

Officers say the body was found behind transportation company William Murrell and Associates. The owner of the business says he made the discovery on his way into work this morning.

Murrell tells News 12 he usually comes in through the back door, and this morning he saw a garbage can back there that wasn't his. He says he dialed 911 as soon as he saw the body, and investigators blocked off the scene a little before noon. They know so far that the body was there for about 48 hours.

"Oh, it was totally shocking, something you just don't see every day," said Mr. Murrell.

"The victim is at the crime lab and we are handling this as a homicide investigation at this time," said Lt. Scott Peebles.

Investigators are still running the man's fingerprints to determine his identity.

The man was in his 50s or 60s, with several tattoos. He was wearing a black, gray and red shirt, jeans, Reebok shoes and a “Star Wars” watch.
