Some big decisions before the Augusta Commission Wednesday,
including what to do about Olive Road. The road has been closed since a deadly accident there three weeks ago.
Commissioner Marion Williams wants to reopen the road
immediately. He says the detour is creating a major inconvenience for
people in his district.
The city's engineering director is recommending that the
overpass remain closed. The other commissioners say the road needs to reopen, but only after a study is done and the Georgia Department of Transportation says it's safe.
