AUGUSTA, Ga.---Bugs will do anything to get water in this drought including invade your house. They're making their way inside through the tiniest cracks and openings but they sure aren't wanted at this house.

Marie Capps is having a fourth of July party at her house and she didn't invite insects. "We've had this Bar-B-Que ever since I was a little girl," Marie says.

That's why she called Advance Services for Pests Control. They came out and sprayed so that bugs don't crash the party. "I just really didn't want a lot of mosquitoes," she says.

Insects, like ants, need water to survive just like we do and they'll go anywhere to get it.

Pat Vanhooser with Advance Services says, "When there's no moisture or water outside then they're going to find a source inside."

That's why summer time is the most important time to get your house insect proof. Sealing all cracks and openings can keep bugs out at a cheap price. "If your doors aren't sealed properly, they can go right underneath the door and come into your home. It's very easy, inexpensive and very efficient," Pat says.

Advance Services says trees that touch the house are one of the main ways bugs get inside. To prevent this, trim your branches. But remember...if at first you don't succeed...try, try again.

"Insects are just pretty clever and they've managed to last all these millions of years and they're still gonna be here but we fight them as best we can," Pat says.

"We've never missed a 4th of july celebration," says Marie. It's a good thing for the capps family...they won't have to this time either.

Now, it's really easy to check if your house is sealed or not. Just take a walk around the outside of your house. Make sure to look for damp, dark places like under flower pots. Also check your house...the siding, windows, and doors and make sure there are no cracks or openings where bugs could get in.
