First Tee of Augusta announced the artists coming to town for its Rock Fore Dough concert today. News 12 has the big name lineup.

Hootie and the Blowfish will be back for this year’s Rock Fore Dough concert. Also signing with be Collective Soul, Better than Ezra, and Emerson Hart of Tonic. The local group Edison Project will be opening.

Ed Roland of Collective Soul is rocking out because he believes in First Tee, a program that teaches kids from all backgrounds how to play golf. Roland, a single dad, plays golf with his 7-year-old son.

“He just started playing last year and it’s the best babysitter I could ever find. He gets out on the driving range for like three hours,” Roland said.

A love for golf is bringing these names during Masters week. The famous Augusta tournament is landing headliners this area doesn’t get the rest of the year.

A large state is put over this practice green for the concert. For a charity that knew little about putting one on, they learned fast and last year was a big success.

“We were very pleased with the outcome and especially encouraged by the local support we got for the event, so we’re looking forward to an even bigger and better event this year,” said Jill Brown.

Last year’s concert raised $57,000 for the charity and it looks like Rock Fore Dough will become their signature event.

“The bottom line is get your tickets early and we’ll see you at the concert,” Brown said.

A concert that’s a treat for local music fans and local kids.

Rock Fore Dough will be on Tuesday, April 4. Mike Mills from REM is emceeing the concert. Tickets go on sale February 25 and are $25 in advance. To purchase them, go to the First Tee of Augusta or visit
