EVANS, Ga.---A raccoon found in an Evans neighborhood recently has tested positive for rabies.
The animal was found dead by Columbia County Animal Control last Friday. It was sent to the lab for testing and the results confirm it is the fourth rabid raccoon found this year in the county.
This is a good reminder for all of you pet owners to keep your animals up to date on their rabies vaccinations. Do this before something happens.
Animal control says the options are not good once your pet comes into contact with a rabid animal.
