AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Anthony Shelton has had a roller coaster of a ride.

You may recall in May of 2008, the former band director was arrested and charged with child molestation and sexual assault.

That came after one 15-year-old victim stated she had sex with Shelton multiple times in his office at Butler High School.

Another victim told investigators she also had sex with Shelton numerous times, and a third victim claimed Shelton fondled her.

The victims all said they had sexual contact with the band director up to six times a week.

Those accusations were put to rest on Wednesday when the jury found Shelton "not guilty" on each of the five counts.

Although the family would not speak to News 12 after the verdict was read, they showed tears of joy for the former band director who walked away a free man.
