Passenger who made threat shot, killed at Miami airport

MIAMI (AP) -- Officials say the passenger shot at Miam International Airport is dead. They say the man was shot after claiming to have a bomb in a carry-on bag.

Homeland Security Department spokeswoman Joanna Gonzalez says
the man was a 44-year-old U-S citizen. His name hasn't been released.

Spokesman Brian Doyle says the passenger indicated there was a
bomb after the American Airlines plane had parked at the gate.

Doyle says the passenger was confronted by air marshals but ran off the plane. Doyle says the man didn't comply when ordered onto the ground, and was shot apparently after reaching into a bag.

Doyle says this is the first time an air marshal has shot at a passenger or suspect.
