AUGUSTA, Ga.---Graduation from Augusta Tech's GED program was an unforgettable day for one grandmother. 70-year-old Zula Wingfield celebrated her birthday as she walked the stage to get her GED.

She was the oldest graduate to walk the stage at Bell Auditorium, but what's so special about her day wasn't her age, but the chance to walk across the stage at the same time as her 17-year-old granddaughter.

"Today I graduate with my granddaughter. I'm 70 years old today. I feel like I accomplished a lot," Zula said.

"That's what she really wanted to do, and she tried her very hardest to graduate today, and she did it," Zula's granddaughter, Leslie Sapp, told News 12. "I'm proud of her."

Zula is planning to spend the rest of the weekend celebrating with family and friends.
