One man is in custody and two still on the loose. 19-year-old Joseph Jacobs is behind bars. He and two other unknown suspects are accused of forcing their way into this South Augusta home Friday night, holding an 18-year-old female at gunpoint and forcing her to take off her clothes.
“We do not have all the information on the other suspects at this time. Investigators are still working and trying to get names,” said Major Ken Autry.
Major Ken Autry says after searching the scene, investigators had little to work with, just a few forensic clues.
“The forensic evidence did lead to the arrest of the first suspect and there are many techniques that they use and they will be using some of those to try and catch the other suspects,” Autry said.
No one was around the home this afternoon. But the victim is prepared in case the criminals come back, adding multiple deadbolt locks, an alarm system, and a web-camera, to go along with two barking dogs for extra protection.
Major Autry says though no one was hurt, the men got away with a large amount of jewelry and cash. And with few clues, the stolen jewelry may be key in catching the remaining suspects.
“We urge anybody that purchased any items from the suspect to contact us and turn those items in,” Autry said.
