NORTH AUGUSTA - Investigators say a man who was trying to steal scrap metal is responsible for a brush fire in North Augusta Tuesday night.
It happened in the 400 block of Martintown Road. The flames then quickly spread to an abandoned house.
After starting it, officers say Brian Foster went to the nearby Kroger store to call police to report the fire.
After questioning him, officers tell News 12 Foster admitted to everything. They even found matches on him.
They arrested Foster and charged him with arson and public drunkenness.
No one was hurt, and firefighters got the flames under control before they spread to any other buildings.
