AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Two high ranking staff members at Augusta's Charlie Norwood VA Hospital have resigned from their positions, but are still employed by the VA.

Chief of Staff Doctor Michael Spencer and Associate Director Richard Rose have voluntarily stepped down for "personal reasons," Spokesperson Pete Scovill said.

Both positions have been filled by an interim.

The resignations come on the heels of a federal audit which found the facility has still failed to schedule appointments for 130 veterans who requested them 10 years ago. The Augusta VA is also under the microscope after three vets died due to inadequate medical care.

This story has been updated to reflect the staff members' current positions.
