Soldier with Local Ties Dies of War Injuries

U.S. Army Sgt. Steve Aaron McCoy died last week at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. He was a member of the 3rd Infantry Division, based at Ft. Stewart, GA. Sgt. McCoy had been wounded March 23 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb.

Sgt. McCoy lived in Moultrie, GA. He and his wife were parents to four-year old twins. Several of his family members live in Warrenton, GA.

Sgt. McCoy's funeral will be Thursday, June 19 at Beggs Funeral Home in Thomson, with burial afterward at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

There is a visitation Wednesday, June 18, from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.

The Patriot Guard Riders plan to escort Sgt. McCoy's casket when it arrives in Thomson. They will also be at the funeral and the burial.

    My prayers go out to the McCoy family, especially the twins who don't have their father anymore!
