NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. --- Trouble on the job for North Augusta's long time Public Safety Director.

News 12 has learned Chief Lee Wetherington was punished recently for forwarding what some consider an inappropriate e-mail.

News 12 talked with North Augusta's Mayor Larke Jones and North Augusta's City Manager Sam Bennett, who both refused to comment, other than to say it is a personnel matter.

News 12 also talked with Chief Wetherington himself Wednesday night. At the time, he said he couldn't comment but was anxious to clear the air. Chief Wetherington has scheduled a news conference at 3pm Thursday to discuss what he calls his "reported suspension."

ARE YOU SERIOUS????????????? HOW CAN WE EVEN WASTE NEW TIME ON SOMETHING SO REDICULOUS???? THERE ARE SO MANY VALUABLE TOPICS THAT WE SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON???? I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM PROUD TO BE A NORTH AUGUSTA NATIVE AND THAT I AM AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH OUR PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT HERE IN NORTH AUGUSTA. TO CHEIF WETHERINGTON, TINA CRAIG, RANDY MOSELY AND THE OTHERS MENTIONED... DONT LET THIS NONSENSE BREAK YOUR SPIRIT...
