FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) -- Fort Stewart soldiers who have recently returned from Iraq are coming together to remember fellow troops killed in Iraq.
Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team at Fort Stewart will gather for a memorial ceremony Monday morning in honor of 29 brigade soldiers who died during their most recent deployment. The brigade's 4,000 troops returned home from a 15-month combat tour in March.
The brigade is attached to the 3rd Infantry Division, which deployed 20,000 soldiers to Iraq last year. About half the division's troops remain in Iraq.
