ATLANTA (AP) -- Traffic in downtown Atlanta is expected to reach new lows over the weekend.

Six ramps serving downtown interstates will be closed, shutting down access to drivers trying to enter the southbound highway.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is urging drivers to stay away from the busy roads between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday.

Work on the interstates began in April. State Department of Transportation officials say the work, which is being done only on the weekends, will take 30 weeks or more.

The roadway was last repaved in 1995.
