A police officer shot during a hot pursuit
Sunday in Tucson, Arizona, has died. Authorities say Officer Erik Hite, who suffered a head wound, was 43 years old. He joined the department four years ago. The man arrested in the case has been charged with suspicion of first-degree murder and is being held on 2.5 million dollars bond. Hite was part of an hour-long pursuit of a gunman who shot at homes from a car. Besides Hite, two sheriff's deputies were wounded. Police believe the incident may have resulted from a confrontation the suspect had with a neighbor several weeks ago.
