From former South Carolina Treasurer -- to drug addict -- to prison inmate.
That's the transition Thomas Ravenel is making today.
The 45-year old is supposed to report to federal prison in Jesup, Georgia by noon for his cocaine conviction.
Earlier -- Ravenel blamed his drug use on a mid-life crisis.
Ravenel's dad says his son got ready for his ten months behind bars by spending time with family and friends on Memorial Day.
The sentence comes after he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
When he gets out of prision -- he says he'd like to run for public office again.
