Augusta, GA---There is more trouble on the coliseum authority board. Keith Brown has sent in a letter of resignation as chairman. It comes after he canceled Tuesday's meeting following an heating exchange between board members Richard Isdell and Willie Law on Friday.
"There was a shouting match that took place that some say looked like it was gonna escalate into a fight, and I just thought it was a good time for us to be able to calm down...come back with level heads to take care of the business for the citizens of Richmond County," said Brown.
Even though today's meeting was canceled, half of the coliseum authority showed up anyway and called a non-binding meeting. Those members recommended Brown resign his post saying the by-laws state he had no right to cancel the meeting.
"As far as me overstepping my bounds...I don't think it's anywhere written that says I don't have that authority to cancel a meeting, not cancel but reschedule, if I've done something wrong I apologize to the board members and to anyone who was inconvenienced," said Brown.
A letter sent to News 12 lists Richard Isdell as the new chair of the authority. The meeting will resume Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 9 A.M.
