Aiken, SC., May 23 - The Aiken County Sheriff's Office this afternoon arrested two North Augusta men, who robbed a woman of her purse in the parking lot of Bank of America, 315 Edgefield Road, Belvedere, South Carolina.
Thomas M. Chambers, 23, 114 Palmetto Avenue, North Augusta, South Carolina, is charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Matthew J. Chambers, 19, 114 Palmetto Avenue, North Augusta, South Carolina, is charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
About 1:30 p.m., the brothers walked up to a woman seated in her car outside the bank. They suddenly produced a handgun and demanded her purse. The pair then ran into a neighborhood behind the bank, where one was arrested almost immediately. About 3:00 p.m., the Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team arrested the second individual.
Deputies recovered a handgun and the victim's money. Both men are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

This must be why Belvedere Elementary was on LOCK DOWN today. What's even more disturbing is that parents start arriving at 1:45 for pick up. None of us were informed of the situation and most of us sit around with our windows open. I think the parents had a right to know what was going on for our safety (waiting is our cars) as well as the children's. The children were finally released at 2:50 pm.
