BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say 150 inmates are back
behind bars at a state prison near Bishopville after guards fled
their dorm when several prisoners refused to return to their cells.

Prisons spokesman Josh Gelinas says three inmates suffered minor
injuries, but all the guards were fine after officers went back
into the wing at Lee Correctional Institution Wednesday night.

Prison officials say guards had sealed off the dorm in the late
afternoon because there weren't enough officers to immediately
respond when the inmates refused to go to their cells following

Gelinas says authorities are still trying to evaluate the
situation in the dorm.

Officials have placed the maximum security prison's 1,720 male
inmates on lockdown.
