May 20, 2008 Severe Weather Rundown

May 21, 2008

The CSRA was once again a hotbed for severe weather yesterday. Numerous severe thunderstorms moved across the area, dumping heavy rains and very large hail.

Reports of nickel, quarter, and golf ball size hail fell in Richmond, Columbia, Aiken, Burke, and other counties. No tornadoes have been confirmed in the CSRA, although Cherokee County, north of Atlanta did have a confirmed tornado.

Over 100 homes were damaged due to strong winds. Numerous trees and power lines fell victim as well. Thankfully, there have been no reports of serious injuries or deaths.
