AUGUSTA, Ga.---The CSRA Alliance was formed in 2003 and successfully
helped keep Ft. Gordon off the 2005 BRAC list of base closings. Funds
that remain are banked so that when the next round of BRAC arrives the CSRA won't have to start fund raising from scratch again.
CSRA Alliance funds are also used to support service members when
circumstances cause significant impact on their lives. The Charlie
Norwood VA Medical Center Fisher House will give families of service
members or other veterans being treated at the VA Medical Center a place to stay, saving an estimated three hundred eighty-five thousand dollars annually in out-of-pocket expenses.
Ronald Thigpen, Chairman of the CSRA Alliance stated "The Alliance
continues to coordinate activities for warriors in transition and
service members recovering from wounds and injuries. This is a good way for the CSRA to demonstrate support of Ft. Gordon and our service members and their families."
The CSRA Alliance will present the VA Medical Center Fisher House a
check for $100,000 Wednesday, May 21, 10:30AM at the Uptown Division of the Charlie Norwood VA on Wrightsboro Road.
