BARNESVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- The family of a soldier from Lamar County says he was killed when his Humvee was hit by an improvised explosive device.

The soldier, 39-year-old Sgt. Davy Nathaniel Weaver, was on his third Mideast tour. He was a 1987 graduate of Lamar County High School. His family says he was killed on Sunday.

Weaver had previously done tours in Bosnia and Iraq.

In addition to his mother, Weaver is survived by his wife, Susan, and a two-year-old daughter, Ella, who live near Fort Stewart. Two sons from a previous marriage, Bradley Ashton Weaver and Malachi Jon Weaver, live in Auburn, Ala.

Weaver's mother, Patsy Rabuck, told The Herald-Gazette newspaper that her son has signed up for the military in the 11th grade and had served ever since.
