Aiken County has announced an unclaimed property program for taxpayers. Phase one will contain business accounts that have unclaimed credit balances due to business closings or amended returns to the SC Department of Revenue. If you believe you may have unclaimed property held by the Aiken County Treasurer, you can contact them at 803-642-2092 or email treasurer@aikencountysc.gov. You will need to provide information of ownership before funds are disbursed, and any unpaid tax balances must be paid first.
You can access the list of business accounts with credit balances on the web site at www.aikencounty.net/Reference/TRE_merchant_credit_balance.pdf
