Nearly a thousand Augusta State University graduates are getting degrees Saturday at the James Brown Arena in downtown Augusta.
The ceremonies start at 10 a.m.
The commencement speaker is Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver, who is a 1991 graduate of what was then Augusta College.
Friday afternoon, the Medical College of Georgia awarded degrees to nearly 800 students at the same arena. They are physicans, dentists, health professionals and researchers in various fields.
Former MCG Medical School Dean Dr. Darrell Kirch was the commencement speaker. His theme was "Seeing the world through new eyes."
