AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- Three women say they were chased around by a man with a machine gun in Aiken Thursday night.
Officers were called to the home on Union Street after a woman called dispatch saying there was a man in her home with a machine gun.
According to the incident report, Smith cursed at the officers and then approached them in an "offensive manner." Smith would not cooperate, so officers eventually had to use a stun gun on him until he could be handcuffed.
Officers said he appeared to be grossly intoxicated.
The women said Smith had been drinking all day and started arguing with them. He later went to the back of the home and allegedly retrieved a firearm, forcing the victims to retreat into a bedroom.
The victims said Smith told them they had 10 minutes to come out or he would start shooting. The women jumped out of the window to escape.
Smith heard them on the phone with 911 and walked outside without the weapon.
Officers say they found a rifle bullet in Smith's pants pocket and an AK-47 loaded with 23 rounds was found hidden underneath leaves on the property. The safety on the weapon was turned off.
Smith is charged with three counts of pointing and presenting a firearm, failure to comply with the lawful order of a PSO and gross intoxication.
Investigators say he has an extensive criminal history, dating all the way back to 1971 and is considered to be a felon.
