Jackson, GA--

Georgia prison officials have executed the first prisoner since 2007.

William Earl Lynd died by lethal injection.
He was pronounced dead at 7:51 pm Tuesday at the state prison near Jackson.

He was convicted in the 1988 killing of his girlfriend, Ginger Moore. Police say Lynd later used the same gun to kill a woman in Ohio.

The Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles Monday turned down his bid for clemency Monday. His lawyers also Monday asked the Georgia Supreme Court for a stay of execution. However, it's not clear if the court will even make a ruling.

He would be the first condemned person to die since the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that death by lethal injection is legal.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Thou shalt not kill ,but if thou do kill in cold blood then you have no right to live. We have built more prisons than schools in this country. WE cannot afford health insurance in millions of homes. We cannot afford to send many of our children to college, yet we take care of murders and even educate them free. There has to be some deterrent to these crimes and it is getting worse so I think the appeals process should be shortened and bring back the electric chair.

"Though Shalt Not Kill". I hope people learn to follow the Laws and Policies of Spirital Law Equally. Motives and Intentions govern us all. He was wrong to kill his girlfriend. He was wrong to take a human life. Killing him was also wrong. Noone has the Spiritial Right to Kill another. It was not a Volitile Situation of self defense. Abortions are a way of changing our minds. What if we change our minds when the child is 2. Can we kill them because we have the rights to their vote until they are 18? I condemn Murder. Killing by anyone when there is an absence of a volitile situation is murder. Life without parole. He was executed to save tax money. Who will be killed next to follow a tax budget instead of keeping criminals in jail forever? Forever in a 10 foot by 10 foot box and never seeing anything else ever for 40 to 50 years. That is more of a correction in life than death. Executioners take 2 lives, per kill. The inmate and their own. Honor a God before thee? Ga. did! HLWIII
