Charges in Spartanburg prison death

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) --Two Tyger River Correctional Institution
inmates have been charged with murder in the death of a fellow
prisoner.

Investigators tell the Herald-Journal of Spartanburg that
22-year-old Augustus Bookert and 22-year-old Donte Doyle chased
down the victim last month in a dormitory at the medium-security
prison.

Authorities say witnesses saw Doyle hit 25-year-old Tommie
Wilson in the head with a lock stuffed inside a sock, then Bookert
stabbed the victim.

An autopsy found Wilson died from internal bleeding from the
stab wound.

Bookert has been serving a five year sentence for armed robbery
from Richland County since December 2005. Doyle began a five year
sentence for third-degree burglary from Richland County in October
2006.

Wilson started serving a 15-year-sentence for multiple crimes,
including aggravated assault and trafficking crack cocaine, in
2004.
