AUGUSTA, G.A.--Richmond County Deputies were looking for a killer Thursday night after a fight at a gas station turned deadly.
The Major Case Squad worked through the night and into Friday morning
to try to get some information about a possible suspect. However, they say they're not even sure if the victim was targeted or it was a random shooting incident.
The shooting happened around 7 o'clock Thursday night at the Corner Convenience Store on the 23-hundred block of Wheeless road. That's at the intersection of Milledgeville Road and Wheeless Road.
Witnesses say two men were fighting at that gas station when one of them pulled a gun and fired three shots, one bullet hitting the other man.
The victim then ran up Wheeless Road before collapsing at a nearby house, at 2254 Wheeless Road. He was taken to MCG but there was nothing doctors could do.
Richmond County Deputies say 23 year old Antonio Marquette President of Augusta was the victim in the shooting.
Investigators say the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt under a black hooded jacket and black pants.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is asking for the person who was with the victim, possibly a friend or acquaintance, to contact them. Callers can remain anonymous and an unspecified cash reward is being offered.
