ATLANTA (AP) -- The nation's airlines have been raising fares to cover the ever increasing cost of jet fuel.
Delta says it is adding a 10 to 40 dollar round trip fuel surcharge. Northwest and US Airways say they are studying Delta's move. No response yet from American Airlines.
Just last Friday, Northwest was the last of the big carriers to agree to a 3-to-5 percent price increase first announced by United.
United, Delta and Northwest all posted first quarter losses in the billions of dollars in part because of the spiraling fuel costs.
