SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- Brazil's navy is giving up the search
for a priest who vanished after apparently being carried over the
Atlantic by a cluster of party balloons.
A navy lieutenant says a helicopter and two boats were pulled
off the search over the weekend when no sign of the Catholic priest
was found.
He has been missing since April 20th, shortly after he was
carried aloft by more than 1,000 helium-filled balloons.
A number of private fishing boats continue to search the coastal
waters off Brazil, and fire department rescue teams are still
looking in the densely forested coastal mountains.
The priest had been trying to raise money to build a rest stop
and worship center for truckers.
