AIKEN, S.C.--The Aiken County Sheriff's Office says a 39-year old Beech Island woman was carjacked late Saturday night.

Deputies say she was stopped at a red light around 11 o'clock p.m. near the intersection of Silver Bluff Road and Highway 278, when investigators say a masked man ran up to the victim's car, snatched open the door and punched the woman in the face.

Investigators say the man then pulled her from her own car and sped away. The victim was not seriously injured in the attack.

Her SUV is still missing as of Sunday night. Investigators are looking for a 1998 black Hyundai Elantra, modeled like a station wagon, with a South Carolina tag, SC 249-NPB.

Anyone with any information on this crime is asked to call the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at (803) 648-6811.

Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward.
