Shootout on Telfair St.

AUGUSTA, Ga.---One man has been wounded and three others are under arrest at a shootout at River Glen Apartments at 201 E. Telfair Street Tuesday evening. Police say two groups were shooting at each other.

The man who was shot in the back, Tashan Jacobs, 21, is also facing aggravated assault charges when he gets out of the hospital.

Police now say the intended targt was Moses Mathis Jr. They add that he recruited some of his friends and fired back at the people who were shooting at him. Officers say they used an AR-15 rifle and a Cobray M-11 semi-automatic pistol.

Mathis is charged with aggravated assault and using a gun.

Marlon Brown is charged with assault and gun charges, plus being a felon in possession of a gun.

Antwone Scriven faces gun and assault charges.

Deputies say Mathis and Brown took control of an apartment in the complex before surrendering to deputies. Investigators found many spent shell casings and the weapons at the scene.

When deputies arrived, they say lots of people ran and they had to chase after them.

More arrests are expected.
