Harlem mayor enters Columbia County Commission race

COLUMBIA CTY, Ga.---Harlem Mayor Scott Dean resigned his position Friday mornng.

Dean says he will be a candidate for the District 4 County Commission race. That job was vacated earlier in the week by Lee Anderson. Anderson is joining the Georgia House of Representatives District 117 race. The present Representative, Barry Fleming of Harlem, is expected to resign after the legislative session to run for the Republican nomination for the 10th Congressional District.

The District 4 Commission race will be decided in a special election July 15th. That's the same day as the primaries for local and state races.

Two other Commission seats will be on the ballot.
