The Department of Energy isn’t budging when it comes to the audit that found the Savannah River Site has wasted $45 million on tearing down the wrong buildings.

The Inspector General, who issued the audit in April, just received a draft response from DOE. In it, the department continues to dispute the findings of the auditor, who found low to no-risk buildings were coming down.

Meantime, the inspector general’s office says they’re standing by their audit. A final response is still pending from DOE, and News 12 will continue to follow this investigation.
