COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- State Senate President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell says he wants to get to the bottom of recent troubles plaguing South Carolina's Highway Patrol.

Federal and state authorities have already announced their investigations into the patrol, which has been under scrutiny after the emergence of a dashboard-camera video showing a white trooper using a racial epithet while chasing a black suspect.

Two other videos show troopers using their cars to ram fleeing suspects.

Highway Patrol Col. Russell Roark and his boss, Public Safety Director James Schweitzer, resigned after the first tape surfaced.

We hope SLED and Director Reggie Lloyd do a better job investigating these allegations than they did on their investigation of the four fired Aiken County Deputy Sheriff narcotics officers. After many months of SLED investigating those allegations of misconduct in office, etc. it is still open and, hence, any finding have not been released to the media nor public.
