AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The juvenile accused in killing a fellow inmate in November was denied bond on Friday.

Michael Everidge, 17, allegedly fatally assaulted 19-year-old Jade Holder when they were both at the Augusta Youth Development Campus.

Judge Daniel Craig denied Everidge bond, saying he is a threat to the community.

The prosecutor said Holder and Everidge bumped into each other earlier on the day of the murder. They supposedly exchanged words and were planning to fight that night in the room. That night, the prosecution says Everidge picked up Holder and slammed his head into the sink. The blood splattered all over the sink and all over the cell.

At that point, Holder went numb, and Everidge admits to punching and kicking him. The other inmates say Everidge "overdid it" and pulled him off of Holder. The guards tried to resuscitate him, but Holder later died after blunt force trauma to the head.

Last month, Everidge pleaded not guilty to felony and malice murder. He was supposed to have a bond hearing in December, but it got continued. He was sentenced to one year in the YDC for a juvenile theft charge -- he would have been out of the facility, if not for this incident.

After the incident, the Department of Juvenile Justice started an intense statewide investigation into employees, which resulted in multiple firings and suspensions. This has led to widespread allegations of employee misconduct from contraband to some officers and even a director engaging in sexual relationships with youths inside.
