AUGUSTA, Ga.---U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga) told 12 on your Side's Jeff Anderson late Wednesday morning it looks as if the Atlanta area will be getting federal disaster funds, but the Augusta area will not.

Sen. Chambliss added the damage is still being looked at, but it does not look as if the local damage will qualify for federal funds.

Experts from FEMA and GEMA were in Jefferson County Tuesday looking at damage.

Sen. Chambliss added, "GEMA has been in the area with the support of FEMA to make sure we're doing everything we can to get everything restored back to normal."

He was in Augusta as part of a statewide flyaround to announce he's running for a second term in the U.S. Senate in the November election.

Local congressman Paul Broun later said he's pushing to have
counties in his 10th district added to any disaster aid request list that must be sent to the federal government.
