Chambliss Re-election Bid

Augusta, Ga--

Georgia U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss plans to visit several cities Wednesday to announce his bid for re-election in 2008.

Sen. Chambliss plans a stop at the Augusta Regional Airport around 11 a..m.

He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002. Before that, the Republican served eight years in the House of Representatives, representing the middle part of the state.

Several Democrats have expressed interest in running against Chamblisss. They include DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones and veteran Atlanta TV investigative journalist Dale Cardwell.
