Drug bust in Beech Island, 13 arrests

AIKEN, S.C. – The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with local, state and federal agencies, Friday afternoon, arrested 13 people and seized marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine and guns from two homes in Beech Island, South Carolina.

Patrick O. Stevens, 21, 252 Amberwood Court, Apartment 8, Augusta, Georgia, is charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine.

Mario J. Davis, 19, 604 Heyward Street, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine.

Larry Johnson Jr., 25, 1050 Beechdale Loop, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine.

Quentin L. Cribbs, 27, 406 South Boundary, New Ellenton, South Carolina, is charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine.

Antonio L. Dunbar, 26, 549 Swamp Road, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Cocaine.

Bennie Green, 40, 6511 NW 12th Avenue #8, Miami, Florida, was arrested on a bench warrant issued by Aiken County Family Court. He faces additional drug charges, as well.

George Watkins, 59, 1187 Sand Bar Ferry Road, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana.

Christopher S. Drayton, 29, 311 Barrow Drive, Augusta, Georgia, is charged with Assault and Battery and Distributing Drugs Within Proximity of a School.

Bernard H. Sheppard, 24, 402 Cary Drive, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Possession of Marijuana – More Than First.

Stanley W. Smith, 49, 114 Bell Drive, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana.

James H. Sheppard, 23, 614 Old Trail Road, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana.

Leroy Cannon, 45, 1752 Atomic Road, Beech Island, South Carolina, was arrested on three outstanding bench warrants.

Melvin Stevens Jr., 47, 118 Bell Drive, Beech Island, South Carolina, is charged with Unlawful Use of Telephone.

“We have received numerous complaints about drug activity in the area,” said Sheriff Michael Hunt. “The home on Swamp Road actually belongs to a 75-year-old woman, who allowed these individuals to sell drugs from the house in exchange for providing her with marijuana.”

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., two teams of deputies, officers and agents served search warrants at 539 Swamp Road and 164 Caprice Lane, in Beech Island. At 164 Caprice Lane, investigators discovered nearly two pounds of marijuana, along with cocaine, crack cocaine and two handguns. They found a small amount of marijuana at the home on Swamp Road.

ACSO, Aiken Department of Public Safety, North Augusta Department of Public Safety, Jackson Police Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives participated in the investigation.

All the subjects are being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
