AIKEN, S.C.---Retired Navy captain Harold Harmon died over the weekend in Aiken. He was 80.

Cpt. Harmon did a lot for veterans in our area. He and other veterans helped to put together the Korean War Veterans Memorial in downtown Augusta, and he asked me to be the emcee when it was dedicated in December of 2004.

It's a monument that will last generations, to salute those brave men and women...including Harold Harmon.

Harmon was also retired from Savannah River Site.
